Title:  Virtual Sales Engineer-OCI

Job Summary

Overview: The OCI Virtual SE position is a pre-sales role supporting the sales of the OnCommand Insight (OCI) software product. Individuals in this role will work in a team environment to help prove the value of the software through demonstration, installation and use of the software in the customers environment, and being a product subject matter expert responding to customers questions.

 

The OCI Virtual SE position requires the ability to understand the current state of customers IT infrastructure and how OCI can be utilized to improve the operational control, business impacts and utilization of collected information to other business systems. Key topic areas this role will touch on:

  • Installation & troubleshooting of OCI in a WIDE variety of customers environments
  • Generalist on Enterprise infrastructure, including storage, network, virtualization and cloud products and associated 3rd party management products/interfaces
  • Interface to engineering, document new problems and use cases, testing of same
  • Interface to sales, education of sales teams and customers on the OCI product, use case and limitations
  • Presentation/interpretation to customers and account teams of the Virtual results

Job Requirements

Technical Skills:

  • Storage concepts for FC, iSCSI, FCOE, NAS, CIFS
  • Compute virtualization concepts
  • Public and Private cloud concepts
  • Familiarity with vendor specific architectures (i.e. NetApp, Dell, HP, Cisco, VMWare, AWS, Etc.)
  • Familiarity with BI reporting concepts
  • Understanding of device/product interfaces (SMI-S, SNMP, CLI)
  • Scripting languages (i.e. Python, Perl)

Education

Work Experience:

  • 2-5 years in technical field (SW Engineer, QA, System Administrator or System Engineer) with experience or ability to work directly with customers (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in multiple engagements at the same time
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple Account Executives at the same time
  • Experience working out of a remote office
