Job Summary

We have an openning for a Test Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team respoinsible for all aspects of test and disposition of cutomer returned NetApp products.  The primary responsibility will be to work with an extended team of internal and external engineers to design, develop and implment a cost-effective method of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment for all phases of product development and manufacturing. Prepare test and diagnostic programs, design test fixtures and equipment, and complete specifications and procedures for new products. Plans the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. 

Job Requirements

The candidate should be hands-on and familiar with test techniques and methods for a variety of computer, storage and networking hardware types. - Experience in test development, test support and production data collection. - Strong communication skill, both written and verbal- Strong project management and leadership skill- Ability to work under pressure- Storage background and understanding of network topologies is a plus- Software experience in some of the following languages: Java, C, Visual Basic, PERL is a plus- Domestic and international travel may be required to audit or transfer products to our suppliers Responsibility and Interaction:Responsibility: - The types of tasks this individual is responsible are a mix of structured and unstructured tasks. This person will also be responsible for the analysis of data from returned material to drive corrective actions on current and future manufactured products.   The selected candidate will work across multiple groups at NetApp in support of our customer obligation for the duration of the life of our products.  Good project management, communication and organizational skills are crucial in meeting organizational needs and adhering to tight deadlines. To be successful in this role, you must be a motivated self-starter and self-learner, have good technical problem-solving skills and be someone who embraces challenges.  This individual will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving routine to moderately complex problems. Interaction: - This individual interacts primarily with Staff to Director level employees within the function, and the technical team on assigned projects. There may be communication with employees in other functions as required.- General direction is provided on routine work, and detailed direction is provided on new projects and assignments; as well as on-going review of activities and priorities.- The ideal candidate will be an important contributor or lead on team projects.

Education

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
